Welcome to Frisa
The small village of Frisa in Abruzzo is located in an area that extends over a ridge between vineyards and olive groves crossed by Moro and Feltrino. Thanks to some findings the origins of the town of Frisa derive from Roman times, although the first written records of the village date back to the 11th century. In the 15th century, the small medieval village was given to the nearby town of Lanciano, becoming a fief, until it was sold to a wealthy merchant family from Milan, who retained it as a fief from 1678 until modern times, bringing always Lanciano as a reference. Of religious interest are the former Church and Convent of Santa Lucia from the 10th century, the Church of Santa Maria, in Badia di Frisa, dating at the beginning of century 1000 and the Sanctuary of Madonna del Popolo, born in the second half of 1600, near a crossroads where there was a shrine with the image of the Blessed Virgin, where apparently she appeared. The town of Frisa is part of the National Association “Città del Vino” (The Wine City).
