Welcome to Paglieta
The town of Paglieta is placed on a hill overlooking the Sangro Valley and the Trabocchi Coast. The italic origin country was a fief of Lanciano called "Castrum Palletae". It is still visible the medieval architecture such as Torrionerotondo, TorredellaPorta and the walls of 1200. The town participated actively in the riots that led to the Unification of Italy (Giuseppe Tretta, from Paglieta, was a garibaldino major with the 1000). The small village of Abruzzo has played an active role during the World War II, suffered considerable damages and dead during the Battle of Sangro, as it was located on the Gustav line. Since 1998 Paglieta hosts the Museum of popular traditions Nelli-Polsoni, where are preserved objects and proofs of the local peasant culture, traditions and customs of the community, starting from 800. In July don’t miss out the feast in honour of San Giusto Martire, with performances, concerts and fireworks. For Abruzzo’s cuisine food and wine lovers, in autumn, exactly in October, takes place Sentieri d’Autunno event, an itinerant Festival through the streets of the village. The town of Paglieta is also part of the national associations "Città del Vino" and "Città dei Motori".
