Welcome to San Vito Chietino
The town of San VitoChietino belongs to the territory of Trabocchi Coast. The village lies on a ridge stretching out towards the sea with breathtaking views, between the Feltrino torrent and Rio Fontana. Of Roman origin, San Vito Chietino was an important reference because of the presence of the harbour (already built during the Frentana era), used for commercial exchanges with the people across the Adriatic Sea. After a period of decline, the sea village of San Vito, returned to be enhanced thanks to the presence of the church dedicated to San VitoMartire and at the Medieval Castle called Castellato, still partly visible, which later took the name of the martyr who already gave the village its name. The city was attended by famous people like FilippoMasci, the dialectal poet GiulioSigismondi and Gabriele D’annunzio, to whom is dedicated the evocative eremodannunziano, where he stayed for a long period and set in San VitoChietino his famous novel “Trionfodellamorte”. Currently it's seaside travel destination for tourists and locals that animate the village on the sea and don't miss out the event dedicated to the Madonna Del Porto the last Sunday of July, with a procession of boats on the sea, little markets every weekend, at the village of San Vito Marina. San VitoChietino is a tourist destination of Abruzzo, ideal for relaxing and enjoying a seaside holiday in a unique area like the Trabocchi Coast, where seafood lovers can enjoy delicious dinners on the Trabocco.
