The town of TarantaPeligna, is a beautiful village in Abruzzo located in the upper course valley of the Aventino river, on the slopes of the eastern Majella, and thanks to the discovery of an axe of bronze of the 2nd millennium BC, we know that it has been inhabited since ancient times. Unfortunately, various earthquakes struck the area, destroying the ancient roots of Tarantam. But there are visible the ruins of the Baroque church of San Biagio. After the world war II was also born the Shrine Brigade Majella, in honour of the resistance which throughout Abruzzo has fought to dispel the nazi-fascists. From the point of view of nature, TarantaPeligna offers countless possibilities for tourists who love the relaxation and wellness. The fascinating Caves of Cavallone, beautiful caves of Abruzzo that are shared with the municipality of Lama deiPeligni, are among the highest visible in Europe, the River Park of "Acquevive", the Valley of Taranta, a rift that has an impact for over seven kilometers on the eastern slopes of the Majella. Every year, in late April, many people gather to commemorate the freedom trail, in honor of the partisans, that goes from Sulmona to Casoli and also passes by TarantaPeligna. A few days later, on 16 may, the village of the Caves Cavallone celebrates the Patron Saint Ubaldo. To end the summer season, in August you can attend or participate at the event of Taranteno, competition among international wine specialists and the less experienced, in judging the small productions and those of niche.
